Cubicore DevBoard now supports RadioLib — modern LoRaWAN development on ESP32-S3 and SX1262

The Cubicore DevBoard is now fully compatible with RadioLib, the universal wireless communication library — bringing native SX1262 support, instant wake from deep sleep, modern LoRaWAN v1.0.4/v1.1, FreeRTOS-friendly design, and multi-protocol flexibility to Philippine IoT developers.

The Cubicore DevBoard pairs an ESP32-S3 with an SX1262 LoRa chip — now fully compatible with RadioLib.

We are excited to announce that the Cubicore DevBoard is now fully compatible with RadioLib, the universal wireless communication library. Built around the ESP32-S3 microcontroller and the SX1262 LoRa chip, the DevBoard is a natural match for RadioLib's modern, actively maintained approach to LoRaWAN development — and a powerful combination for IoT builders in the Philippines.

Why RadioLib on the Cubicore DevBoard

  • Native SX1262 hardware support: RadioLib directly manages the SX1262's SPI command structure, mandatory BUSY pin, TCXO voltage, and RF switches — no hacking legacy SX127x drivers required.
  • Instant wake from deep sleep: serialize the session state with saveSession() / restoreSession() into the ESP32-S3's RTC RAM or NVS. Wake up, transmit in milliseconds, and avoid battery-draining OTAA re-joins.
  • Modern LoRaWAN v1.0.4 & v1.1: full support for modern security keys, dynamic regional channel plans (EU868, US915, AS923, and more), and network MAC commands (ADR, Rx windows) out of the box.
  • FreeRTOS & dual-core friendly: a clean, unopinionated C++ API without rigid callback loops. Run radio events inside a dedicated Core 1 FreeRTOS task while Core 0 handles sensor polling or edge AI.
  • Multi-protocol flexibility: easily switch between standard LoRaWAN uplinks and raw LoRa P2P/FSK packets on the same physical chip when hybrid mesh or field-debug modes are needed.

For battery-powered deployments across the Philippines — from agricultural sensors to industrial monitoring — the combination of the Cubicore DevBoard's hardware and RadioLib's session persistence means longer battery life, faster development, and fewer workarounds. RadioLib is open source and available at github.com/jgromes/RadioLib.
